The Namibian Police at Oshakati in the Oshana Region have confiscated loudspeakers belonging to the New Jerusalem Ministry at the town's Oneshila settlement.
Inspector Thomas Aiyambo of the Namibian Police Force's Public Relations Unit in the Oshana Region told Nampa yesterday that the police confiscated the speakers late on Wednesday night, after complaints of noise.
He said the police and the Oshakati Town Council had requested the church leaders on several occasions last month to bring down the noise especially at night.
An immediate neighbour of the church, Helena Kashuupulwa said the noise from the church was overwhelming during the end-of-year examinations last year.
The police say church head Likeus Mateus was absent when they seized the speakers.
Mateus has since told Nampa that they used to conduct loud sermons but no longer do so.
The church was established in July last year and conducts deliverance, prayer points, petitions and worship days.
