President Geingob congratulates Namibia's Commonwealth Games gold medalists

President Hage Geingob has congratulated marathon champion Helalia Johannes and Jonas Junius Jonas (light welterweight boxing category 64kg), for their outstanding performances, winning gold medals in their respective categories at the Commonwealth Games in Australia.
The President singled out Helalia Johannes, for becoming the first Namibian female sportsperson to win gold at the games.
President Geingob has encouraged the two athletes to aim for the summit in the form of gold at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
Geingob recognised the improving performance of the Namibian team at the games, ending sixth in Africa, and an overall 19th out of 43 nations.
The president said, with hard work, organisation, collective effort and discipline Namibian sports can reach greater heights.
