Mannetti confident after evaluating players’ fitness

WINDHOEK - Brave Warriors Coach Ricardo Mannetti is reportedly satisfied with the majority of his players’ fitness progress.
He said this on Wednesday after evaluating the training squad - following their two-week preparation run for the crucial 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Zambia.
Ricardo Mannetti has kept local players busy, despite the non-active league which is expected to kick off in mid-September again.
Upon NBC Sport’s visit a few weeks ago, Coach Mannetti had been concerned about the team’s fitness level and started with the training camp six weeks ahead of the game.
He showed himself satisfied and hopeful about the upcoming encounter against Zambia.
“I am very happy with most of the players; they are responding to training very well, but I’m not happy with some of them. Nonetheless, the majority of the players are really doing well. ”Mannetti said.
The training sessions, which take place twice a day, will continue until the actual match day, said Mannetti.
He further explained that the ideal situation would include more friendly matches, but that he understands the financial situation of the mother body and would do his best to prepare the national squad appropriately nonetheless.
“If we cannot get a friendly, we will continue with our training and we will really focus on our foreign based players because they will be fitter if they can get the game time” he said.
Eleven Arrows’ striker Willem Penihas, who is a member of the training squad, said the training has really helped to improve their fitness levels.
“It is very tough but I am very happy with the fitness level of the team and we will be ready for Zambia if we keep on training like this” Penihas said.
The Warriors are confident that they can beat Zambia if they want to improve their chances of qualifying for their third African Cup of Nations
