Local boxer Sakaria Lukas is currently in America for the toughest test of his boxing career yet: He is set to face US boxer Jessie Magdaleno on Saturday.
The bout is scheduled to take place at the legendary Madison Square Garden in New York.
Sakaria Lukas, also known by his ring name 'Desert Storm' had an undefeated run in 23 professional fights.
Now facing the biggest challenge of his career, Lukas is said to be well-prepared to take on former world champion Jessie Magdaleno in a ten-round battle.
Both will fight for the WBC Silver Medal, whereas the winner is expected to be the world's title eliminator.
Lukas’ trainer Imms Moses, who has accompanied him to U.S. said the Namibian camp is confident and that they want to make use of this opportunity to turn boxing dreams into realities.
“Desert Storm is ready, he is motivated. We have been training now for almost three months. He has been sparring with Julius Indongo” he said.
Moses said “This fight means a lot to us the whole Namibia nation. We are just looking ahead for Saturday night to make Namibia proud”.
While Namibians are backing their local hopeful in the fight, Magdaleno is equally as eager to use this fight to pave his way to the top again.
Both boxers will give their all at Madison Square Garden, which is considered by many as the most famous arena in the world.
