Four Swakopmund Secondary School learners tested, isolated

Four learners from the Swakopmund Secondary School have been tested for COVID-19 after they presented flu-like symptoms earlier today.
In a joined statement, the Ministries of Health and Education said the boys have been placed in isolation at the Namib High School Hostel while awaiting lab results to be announced on Tuesday.
The ministries say the four boys arrived at the Swakopmund State Hospital with flu-like symptoms.
Out of caution, a decision was taken for them to be tested for COVID-19.
The decision to test the learners is part of the active case search in line with the Ministry of Health's expanded targeted testing, which dictates that persons who present to health facilities with symptoms consistent with the case definition for COVID-19, shall be tested.
In the meantime, the learners have been placed in separate rooms in the Namib High School hostel, where they reside, while awaiting results.
As an immediate step, no one will be permitted to leave the hostel until the test results are known.
The ministries say the health of all the children in the hostel will be closely monitored and parents and families will be informed.
Parents can keep their children at home while waiting for further information.
