NamPower will be activating a newly constructed transmission line in the north-central areas of Namibia next week.
The transmission line runs from the Gerus Sub-Station outside Otjiwarongo to the Otjikoto Sub-Station outside Tsumeb.
The switching on exercise is scheduled to start on Monday and be completed by Wednesday.
A media release from the state-owned enterprise indicates that the new line has been constructed at 400 kilovolt, but will initially be operated at 220 kilovolt.
It notes that the construction of the power transmission line is part of NamPower's Transmission Master Plan.
The Master Plan involves the strengthening and expansion of the transmission network to ensure reliable power supply and reinforce the network for future development and integration into the wider SADC network.
NamPower has given the assurance that it has put in place all necessary measures to ensure an uninterrupted power supply to its clients in Otjozondjupa, Oshana, Oshikoto, Kavango East and Kavango West regions.
