The Ministry of Works and Transport (MWT) has accused the Otjozondjupa Regional Council (ORC) of neglecting Government properties.
MWT says buildings and unoccupied plots at Swembad and Son in Otjiwarongo, assigned to ORC are surrounded by grass and shrubs.
Its Otjozondjupa Control Works Inspector, Sackaria Hatutale, says the buildings assigned to the regional council and some ministries are not well maintained.
He has told NAMPA in an interview that the institutions and agencies the houses have been assigned to should maintain the buildings as agreed to in official documents.
Hatutale says he reminded the ORC and other institutions to maintain the facilities and return the buildings not in use to the MWT in a letter dated 23 February this year.
ORC spokesperson Cornelia Shikongo said in response that some casual workers had been recruited to remove the overgrowth of grass and weed from the buildings.
But she did not specify when the cleaning will start or end.
