Residents of Outjo in the Kunene Region commemorated Heroes' Day by cleaning the /Khubus Cemetery.
Outjo Mayor Marius Sheya led the clean-up campaign which saw other local authority Councillors, religious groups, community members, business owners and their employees participating.
The nearly 200 participants used rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, axes and black plastic bags in the cleaning activity.
Others sponsored water, soft drinks and meat which were prepared for lunch.
Sheya told Nampa they deemed it fitting to honour their heroes and heroines by cleaning the cemetery where their forebears are buried.
The mayor said the cleaning of the biggest graveyard at Outjo was an idea of the municipality and plans are underway to make it an annual activity.
