President Geingob hails Zambia's Kenneth Kaunda as an icon of African liberation struggle

President Hage Geingob returned home after attending the state memorial service of Zambia Founding President Kenneth Kaunda.
President Geingob hailed the late Kaunda as an icon of the African liberation struggle whose outstanding contributions to unity, peace and justice will be cherished forever.
Shortly after Zambia's independence in 1964, late Kaunda helped champion the quest for freedom of other countries in SADC including Namibia.
Dr Geingob says Kaunda's support for the former liberation movements that colonialists listed as terrorist groups led to Zambia's economy suffering major setbacks.
We will bring detailed reports from the service tomorrow.
