State objects to bail for alleged hospital rapist

Dennis Noah, an intern medical doctor at Katutura State Hospital, made his first appearance at the Windhoek Regional Court this morning.
Noah is being charged with one count of rape.
It is alledged that he raped a male patient at the hospital's head injury ward on Sunday.
State prosecutor Fillemon Nyau objected to granting of bail, informing the court that the allegations against Noah are of a serious nature and that granting him bail would not be in the best interests of the public and the administration of justice.
The investigations into the matter are still at an infant stage, argued the State.
Noah was represented by Janike McLeod-Janser, who said she will bring a formal bail application on 19 April.
He will be detained at the Seeis holding cells.
