Swakopmund learners suspected of having COVID-19 tested negative

The four learners from the Swakopmund Secondary School who were tested for COVID-19 on Monday have tested negative.
This was announced by the Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr Kalumbi Shangula this evening.
Dr Shangula says the learners were tested as part of Government procedures to test everybody who presents themselves to health facilities with flu-like symptoms.
So far, More than 5 000 people have been tested since the targeted initiative started in April this year.
The purpose of the exercise is to detect possible community transmission of COVID 19, and the Ministry aims to test about 200 000 people.
Namibia's statistics on VOCID-19 remain, with 31 cases, with 17 recoveries and 14 active cases.
