Zimbabwe will impose a nationwide lockdown for 21 days as of 30 March 2020 to help curb the spread of COVID-19.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa said some of the measures to be taken will be drastic and are sure to upset the daily routines of citizens.
Should it become necessary, he emphasised security forces will be deployed to assist in the enforcement of these measures.
In a live broadcast, Mnangagwa emphasised that only state and health workers on duty will be exempted from the lockdown, while funeral gatherings should not involve more than 50 people.
