In the first match of Thursday evening, Madagascar took on Burundi with both teams heading into the game having lost their opening encounters.

After a goalless first half Madagascar was the team who broke the deadlock with 15 minutes to spear in the second half.

It was Madagascar's right middle Marco Ilaimaharitra who scored just towards the edge of the box.

In the second match Africa's top ranked team Senegal went down to Algeria early in the second half.

Algeria's Mohamed Belaili took a shot at goal under tremendous pressure from Senegal, sending the ball in to the bottom left corner.

In the third game of the night football fans were treated to an east African derby between Kenya and Tanzania, which lived up to expectations.

Just 6 minutes into the game Tanzania opened the scoreboard through their striker Happygod Msuvan.

Kenya's Michael Olunga however answered back with a tightly squeezed goal in the 39th minute.

Tanzania's Mbwana Samatta then replied almost immediately to give his team the lead back.

In the last 30 minutes of the game Kenya took back the game when Johanna Omolo hit the back of the Net. This was followed by Olunga's second gal in the 80th minute to give Kenya the win over their neighbours.
