The Brave Warriors lost their second match at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) against their neighbouring country South Africa in group D, despite having plenty of chances to capitalise Friday night.
The Brave Warriors surprised Bafana Bafana with their style of play. Both teams played goalless in the first half, although the Warriors dominated, with a lot of chances from Deon Hotto and Peter Shalulile. They however failed to capitalise on these.
South Africa became stronger in the second half, when in the 68th minute Bongani Zungu got a corner kick and scored the only goal of the match. This happened despite Brave Warriors goal keeper Loydt Kazapua saving multiple attempts before that.
As the Brave Warriors played in Egypt, some of the Namibian fans gathered at the NFA Technical centre to watch the boys’ performance at the Al-Salam Stadium.
Though Namibia's chances at Afcon now look bleak, they has one last lifeline: They need to beat Ivory Coast on Monday evening by two goals, while Morocco needs to beat South Africa with two goals - depending on the other group matches for the best position.
Group D which is arguably the toughest constellation among the AFCON fixtured has left Namibia at the bottom of their group.
Most countries are fighting for the top 16 as the competition is getting increasingly more difficult.
