Gurirab wins big at NPL awards  for the first time

Life Fighters striker Isaskar "Bio" Gurirab was the biggest winner at the NPL Awards which took place at a local hotel in Windhoek Saturday night.
Gurirab, who is part of the Brave Warriors Afcon squad, took home the NPL Player of the Season and NPL Top goal scorer accolade at the glittering occasion.
The glittering NPL which was aired live on NBC 1 at the Safari Hotel Court stole the limelight with entertainment by local artists.
The League's Chairman and the league's sponsors representatives were presented with a chance to reflects back on the just-ended season and the road ahead.
The Awards evening started with the referee category with Matheus Nevongo from Hardap region taking the Assistant Referee Award, and Nehemia Shoovaleka the Referee of the Year Award.
As expected Black Africa coach Paulus Shipanga walked-away with the Coach of the Year award for only losing 2 matches in the entire season.
Black Africa midfielder maestro Wesley Katjiteo was rewarded for his finest display with the Players Player of the Season accolade.
But the night was bossed by the youthful Life Fighters striker Isaskar Gurirab who took home the Player of the Season and the Top Goal scorer awards in his absentia.
Gurirab's mother was on hand to received her son's awards on behalf - thanking God in the process for blessing with such a bundle of joy.
The Chairman's Award was shared between former pre-independence star player Oscar Mengo and former NPL Chairman Johnny Doeseb.
In the end the podium became red and black as the NPL champions Black Africa were handed the league's trophy plus the one million cheque that goes along to round the memorable night in style.
