Three Road races postponed to 2021

Due to the ever-increasing number of Coronavirus cases in Namibia, three road races that were initially scheduled to take place this year have been postponed to 2021.
Organisers made this decision out of fear for the safety of athletes.
After engagement with the three road races' main stakeholders, the Namibia Sports Commission and Athletics Namibia, the regional sports officer in Erongo, Berthold Karumendu announced on Wednesday the postponement of three road races due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
As such, the 2nd Edition of the Spar National 10km championship, the 7th Edition of the Navachab Half Marathon 21.1km and the 8th Edition of the Erongo Powersave Street Mile 1.6km are affected.
“As a race director I'm hereby informing our athletes and the Namibian nation at large that the three races have been cancelled due to COVID 19 pandemic” Karumendu said.
Karumendu also explained that his office has been looking into certain aspects of hosting the races, like the current health guidelines and protocols in line with the WHO and state of emergency regulations.
“Now we are looking forward by monitoring this pandemic for us to come up with better plans in line with the guidelines for these races to be bigger and better than before in 2021” he said.
Karumendu acknowledged and thanked the main stakeholders of the three road races for their unwavering support over the years.
